1 At Samsung Tech Day 2019 in October last year, the company announced its new flagship Exynos 990 SoC.
작년 10월에 개최된 Samsung Tech Day 2019에서 삼성이 신형 플래그십 엑시노스 990 CPU를 선보인 바 있다.
2 The SoC is manufactured on the company’s new 7nm LPP EUV (extreme ultra-violet) process and it features a triple-cluster CPU core setup consisting of a combination of two custom M5 big cores, two ARM Cortex-76 middle cores, and four ARM Cortex-A55 little cores.
이 CPU는 삼성의 신규 7nm LPP EUV(극자외선) 공정을 통해 제조되었으며 2개의 커스텀 M5 빅 코어, 2개의 ARM Cortex-76 미들 코어, 4개의 ARM Cortex-A55 리틀 코어로 구성된 트라이 클러스터 CPU 코어 구조가 채택되었다.
3 Months after the initial announcement, Samsung’s flagship SoC finally made an appearance on the Galaxy S20 series earlier this year and we initially believed that it would also be featured in the upcoming Galaxy Note 20 series.

하지만 ZDNet Korea의 최근 보도에 따르면 삼성이 갤럭시 노트 20 시리즈에 신형 엑시노스 992 CPU를 탑재할 가능성이 점쳐지고 있다.
5 As reported by Sammobile, Samsung may debut the new Exynos 992 chipset later this year with the Galaxy Note 20 series.
Sammobile의 보도에 따르면 삼성이 올해 후반에 갤럭시 노트 20 시리즈를 통해 신형 엑시노스 992 CPU를 선보일 것으로 예상된다.
6 The Exynos 992 chipset is rumored to be an improved version of the Exynos 990 that is being manufactured using Samsung’s 6nm process.
엑시노스 992 CPU는 엑시노스 990의 개량 버전으로 삼성의 6nm 공정을 통해 제조될 것이라는 소문이 돌고 있다.
7 The chipset is expected to offer a more power-efficient design and slight improvements in processing performance when compared to the Exynos 990.
이 CPU는 엑시노스 990에 비해 전력 효율과 처리 능력이 개선될 것으로 예상된다.
8 This is also expected to give the unannounced chipset a slight edge (1-3%) over its main competitor — the Snapdragon 865.

9 The report further reveals that the Exynos 992 may also be used in the Korean version of the Galaxy Note 20 series, making a return to flagship Exynos SoCs for Samsung after the Korean Galaxy S20 series shipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865.
이 보도에서는 엑시노스 992가 갤럭시 노트 20 시리즈의 한국 출시 모델에도 탑재되면서 갤럭시 S20 시리즈의 한국 출시 모델에 퀄컴 스냅드래곤 865가 탑재된 이후 다시 플래그십 엑시노스 CPU로 복귀하게 될 것이라고 전했다.
10 Samsung’s switch to the Exynos chipset can also be attributed to the delay in the launch of the upcoming Snapdragon 865+, which was initially scheduled for Q3 2020 but has been pushed back due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
삼성이 엑시노스 CPU로 돌아오게 된 것은 당초 2020년 3분기에 출시될 예정이었다가 COVID-19 대유행이 이어지면서 스냅드래곤 865+의 출시가 연기된 것도 원인으로 작용했다.
